Curriculum at River Valley Global School – Aligned with NEP 2020

At River Valley Global School, we provide a holistic education aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Our curriculum nurtures intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development through structured stages:

1. Foundational Stage (Ages 3–8)

● Focus on play-based learning and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
● Development across physical, socio-emotional, cognitive, and language domains.
● Use of toys, puzzles, and picture books; no formal exams.

2. Preparatory Stage (Ages 8–11)

● Introduction to structured learning in two languages (R1 and R2), Mathematics, Art, Physical Education, and interdisciplinary areas like The World Around Us.
● Activity-based pedagogy with a mix of textbooks and hands-on experiences.
● Assessments focus on achieving learning standards through formative and summative methods.

3. Middle Stage (Ages 11–14)

● Emphasis on abstract concepts in Science, Social Science, Mathematics, and Vocational Education.
● Development of academic proficiency and inquiry-based learning.
● Formal assessments to build conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking.

4. Secondary Stage (Ages 14–18)

Grades 9–10:
● Continuation of core subjects with Environmental Education as an interdisciplinary focus.
● Development of reasoning, ethical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Grades 11–12:
● Science Stream: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English, and optional subjects.
● Commerce Stream: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, English, and optional subjects.
● Focus on independent learning, self-study, and real-world applications.
